Lee Welch in training

It's less than a year until the Paralympic Games and Hertfordshire's hopefuls are beginning their preparations...

Lee Welch is part of the national wheelchair basketball team and has his sights set on the London games.

The 26 year-old trains in Ware and let JACK fm catch up with him at his gym.

He says confidence amongst the team is at a high right now: "We've just won the gold medal at the European Championships in Israel and it's given us a huge buzz to go on and progress.

I'm aiming to get down the gym three or four times a week, as well as my other training sessions.

Motiv8 has been great to me and really pushed me on..."

Lee's been explaining what first sparked off his interest in Basketball. Hear him chatting with JACK fm's Sophie Calvert on the audio player below...
