"Hatfield Airport?!!" Apple Maps Blunder Discovered

If you've bought a new iPhone 5 or updated your mobile to the latest operating system, you could be mistaken into thinking you have travelled back in time...

The error-hit application clearly shows the former Hatfield Aerodrome site as "Hatfield Airport."

The location is coloured in purple - just like Luton and Stansted airports - despite closing for redevelopment in the 1990s.

The area is now home to the likes of the University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield Business Park, a David Lloyd Gym, Hatfield Police Station and new housing developments.

Apple has responded to the criticism of its mapping software, saying it will "improve."
