Friday, August 10th 2012 07:32

ABOVE+BELOW: CCTV Images of the two men have been released by Herts Police

Two women have been threatened with a knife during a robbery in Welwyn Garden City...

The staff in the Orange shop at the Howard Centre had their hands bound with cable ties while offenders made off with a substantial amount of electrical items; including Apple iPhones and iPads.

One woman suffered minor injuries as a result of having her arms tied behind her back.

After the robbers had left, one of them managed to free herself and raise the alarm.

Hertfordshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened on Wednesday (August 8th) before 9.15am.

Detectives believe the men approached the Howard Centre using the footbridge over the railway from the old Shredded Wheat factory area and made their exit using the same route.

DS Pete Ward, from the Local Crime Unit in Hatfield, told JACK fm: "We would like to trace the movements between 8.45am and 9.15am of the men in the CCTV images, as they may have information that is vital to our investigation.

The offenders may have used a vehicle parked nearby to get away from the scene. If you saw any suspicious activity around a vehicle in either the town centre or Shredded Wheat factory areas, please get in touch with police as soon as possible."

Anyone with information about the incident should contact police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference B1/12/2197.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
