An elderly woman's critically ill in hospital after a fire in Stevenage.
It happened at 10.50am this morning in The Paddocks at Bradshaw Court, which is a residential property for elderly people.
Gary Sanderson from the East of England Ambulance Service told Jack FM:
"We received a call at 11.05 to report of a fire at Bradshaw COurt. There was a fire situation in one of the rooms. A lady who's believed to be in her 70s was rushed to the Lister hospital with serious injuries, potentially life-threatning. Two carers who were assisting with the removal of the lady - because it was a fire situation - received minor injuries and smoke inhalation and were also taken to the Lister hospital."
"3 ambulances in total attended the scene and when we arrived the fire service had brought the 3 injured people to safety. The lady unfortunately suffered burns and smoke inhalation and is critically ill in hospital."
